How Conceptual sketches
When 2024
I’ve made something i swore i would never do. A graffiti inspired typeface. Oops. Very kitch. But honestly, i wasn’t trying to. I just drew these letters and felt like they needed some arrows and connections, like the ones in the Yardsport logo (which is based on these sketches). And, well, now i’m going with it. I’m gonna pack it with loads of alternates and OpenType features like arrows, crazy ligatures and inter-letter connections. So you can use it for graffiti. Or not. Whatever. Follow along for a further development and production of the font.
The letters are round and organic, with wonky outlines and hints of manual production. They are drawn fast and dirty, just like letters sprayed on walls or drawn on train cars are supposed to be. Not too perfect. They have a strong attitude and personality with sturdy compact forms, while also being round, friendly and artistic.
