This is a typeface based on the lettering of the danish illustrator Ib Spang Olsen. Throughout his work, from the illustrations in the childrens limerick “Halfdan’s ABC”, to the more adult illustrations of old Copenhagen, one thing that is consistent is his use of letters. Spang Olsen clearly drew them from a system - but always by hand. In this sense, his lettering is iconic. Familiar to both children and grown ups.
I call this one Ib Nuovo. And that’s exactly what it is - a new found look, closely related to the everchanging, but consistent lettering of Ib.
